[Spanish Campaign of 1810] Pierre LAGARDE (Paimpol 1768–1848). General Intendant of the Portuguese Police, a close friend of Marshal Masséna, Prince of Essling, and General Foy. His letters serve as a true chronicle of military events in Spain and during the Third Portuguese Campaign. Three autograph letters, two of which are signed, addressed to General Foy on June 4 and 30 and August 21, 1810; the first two were sent from Madrid, and the third from Ciudad Rodrigo. The letters provide insight into the friendship between the two men, as well as the bond between Lagarde and the Prince. Lagarde’s positions are clear-cut and of the greatest interest. 4 folio pages / 3 folio pages / 3 folio pages with a wax seal and a small cut on the side of the last page.
